Bert Cook is the Executive Director of the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership. Having worked in the economic development field for 14 years Mr. Cook is well versed in all aspects of local economic development. His past experience has been with the Portage Economic Development Corporation as their Executive Director and with the La Porte County Economic Development Alliance as Retention and Expansion Coordinator.
Mr. Cook has a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Purdue University North Central and has continued his education with development certificates from Ball State University and Purdue University North Central.
Currently, Mr. Cook sits on a number of Boards and Commissions including: The La Porte Urban Enterprise Association, The Regional Development Company, The La Porte County Revolving Loan Fund, and The Northwest Indiana Forum’s Economic Development Committee. Mr. Cook is also a member of the Rotary Club of La Porte.
President of Chamber Services
Mike has spent 26 years in the financial services industry most recently in banking as a commercial lender. Throughout his tenure he has devoted significant hours to his community by serving in a volunteer capacity for local non-profits, community boards and municipal associations.
Some of Mike’s roles include, President of LaPorte Urban Enterprise Association, President of La Porte Community Development Partnership, Slicer Champions mentor advisory committee member, La Porte County Family YMCA finance committee and past board member, Kiwanis of La Porte board member, Founder of DeCamp’s Band of Brothers Foundation and several other roles and committees within the community over this time span. Mike is looking forward to taking advantage of the positive momentum in La Porte and adding value to area businesses looking to partner in this growing community.
Marketing and Membership Director
Lindsay Jongkind has experience working for a nonprofit and years of experience in an office setting. She completed her Event Management Certificate through the Art Institute of Pittsburgh Online in 2016. Lindsay is a member of the La Porte Jaycees and the Kiwanis Club of La Porte and loves to give back to the community she was born and raised in.
Lindsay’s position currently deals with day-to-day Chamber activities including the recruitment of new members and retention of existing members, various billing duties for the Chamber, working closely with the Ambassadors Committee, and all marketing duties.
Mrs. Rose grew up in La Porte and attended La Porte High School. After graduating in 2009, she attended Ball State University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Urban Planning and Development in 2013. Furthering her education, she obtained a Master’s of Science in Historic Preservation from Ball State in 2014.
“I am excited to help continue the growth and improvements we have seen in the downtown over the last several years and to be able to serve the community that inspired me to seek an education in urban planning and historic preservation,” said Angela Rose. Mrs. Rose, her husband Stephen and son Jude have recently moved back to La Porte after serving two contracts in the United States Military Forces. Angela is also the Treasurer of the Downtown La Porte Main Street Association.
Sylvia Espinosa is the Administrative Assistant for the La Porte Economic Advancement Partnership. Ms. Espinosa is the point of contact for all visitors to LEAP and handles record keeping, scheduling and payroll duties.
Originally from Sault Ste. Marie, MI, Ms. Espinosa has been a La Porte resident since 1980. She has been a US Postal Contractor since 1980 and for 13 years operated Frost Moving & Storage, as director of their owner-operator division. Ms. Espinosa obtained her Bachelor’s in Business Administration in February 2013.
